However, now through Solamagic®, there is a new class of domestic patio heater bringing many economic and emvironmental advantages to businesses and organisations.

Infrared Heat compared to other sources

To highlight the effectiveness of the Solamagic® Patio Heater, it is useful to compare both traditional resistance heating, (central heaters for instance), as well as the other major infrared heat source which is the quartz element.

The key differences to watch out for are the levels of radiant heat and convection heat along with the emission peaks however;

The Solamagic® Halogen Infrared Elements have a 92% degree of efficiency as compared to 60% and 40% respectively for quartz and resistance heating. This means that only 8% of the input energy used to power the Solamagic® Patio Heater is not converted to direct heat in comparison to 40% and 60% of lost energy in quartz and resistance.

The heating phase again with the Solamagic® Patio Heater takes 1 second to reach 90% capacity, which essentially means instant heat, as compared to 30 seconds for the quartz element and 5 minutes for resistance heating, which means wasted energy.

The Solamagic® Patio Heaters use a high percentage at 34% of shortwave infrared, which creates radiant heat in comparison to 3.5% and 1% respectively for the quartz element and resistance heaters. This means that the Solamagic® Patio Heaters are not dependent of convection heat, which is highly affected by breeze/wind. The quarts element has a high wind sensitivity and the resistance heater has a very high wind sensitivity, making the Solamagic® Patio Heater Halogen element the best choice for outdoors heating.

The Solamagic® Patio Heater has a lower emission peak at 1,2 μm,  in comparison to 2,2 μm and 4 μm respectively, while delivering more heat from the input energy and not losing any heat due to wind. Quartz and resistance heaters have a higher emission peak, using more power to get there and delivering less heat in the process when affected by wind.

The clear results are highly weighted in favour of the Solamagic® Patio Heater in comparison to the two most common competing heat sources.
